I just received a promo copy of the MIGHTY DIAMONDS upcoming new release 'THUGS IN THE STREETS.' Finally, this much anticipated release by one of the greatest three part harmony groups ever to grace a reggae stage fills the promise of quality recording with old time memories. The cd is released on the French label Nocturne and begins with the beautiful melody 'Every Other Day' recorded on the Satta Massagana riddim. Old time roots lovers will be well pleased especially with tunes such as 'Ten to One' taking a sentimental journey down the valley of vintage roots perfection. 'Jam Jam' appeals to the soca/calypso lover with a fine rendition of magical steel drums. 'Baby Love' takes a romantic stroll with Tabby crooning "your love is warmer than the sun, sweeter than the dew that falleth in the nights." One of my favorite all time reggae songs, "Conversation" originally recorded by the Uniques is also included as a delectable sweet dessert. Party with Ragga B adds a hint of new age dancehall. The album tops off with the Rastafarian chant (remake) of 'I Need A Roof adding a hip hop mix modernizing one of the Diamonds most beloved songs. Overall this album presents old time riddims with modern quality production makes this a stellar roots collector's item. The cd can be pre-ordered by internet or in your local music stores very soon. ~ Sista Irie, Conscious Party, 88.7 FM, KAZI, Austin, Texas 04/02/06
