PETER METRO - BIO
Peter Metro (Peter E. Clarke) was born 1960 in Kingston, Jamaica. He
started out in the music business at an early age with the name Peter
Ranking wich he later changed to Peter Metro. After studying in cuba,
he was by this time very fluent in the spanish and used this to his
advantage by becoming the first spanish speaking DJ. This helped him
further in his career as he toured several spanish speaking countries
and also incorporated this in his lyrics.
His career blossomed on the Metro Media Sound System in the early 80's
and in 1982 he was voted best Dance Hall Artist. One of his big hits
in that year was "Dedicated To You" which got overwhelming
acclaim in that year. He further went on to performing at the famous
Madison Square Gardens in America in 1983 with the likes of Freddy
McGregor, Mutubaruka to name a few. He was also the first dj to tour
with Reggae Sunsplash in the USA, as this stage was reserved at the
time for traditional Reggae acts but he was all Dance Hall and a
break through for the music so he got to share this stage with alot
of greats.
In 1986 he was given the covetted title of DJ of the year and went on to
be named DJ of the decade in 1990. In that same year he toured
england with Metro Media again and did a phenomenal combination with
King Yellowman named „The Girl Is Mine“ while touring in England
he discovered a caucasian DJ called Dominic they callaborated and
released „Listen The Yardi, Listen The Cockney“ on the Penthouse
label this propelled Dominic into the limelight and also was another
big hit for Peter Metro again. The were lots of other releases in his
catalog such as „Back Way Talk“, „Life Fuck Up“, „Police
Inna England“ and many others, a lot of these hits on the King
Jammys label in the late 80's as well as in the early 90's.These
songs helped Peter Metro cement his space in Reggae music as one of its pioneers.

SQUIDDLY RANKING - BIO
Squiddly Ranking, the younger brother of Peter Metro, is well known for his mixture of
reality and slackness lyrics and for being a member of two of the greatest
soundsystems ever: Gemini and Stone Love.
Inspired by DJ's likeTrevor Ranking and Co. he started his DJ career around 1980 at
the Black Ark Sound in Kingston / Jamaica. In '81 he moved on and becamea member of
Gemini, one of the greatest soundsystems in the 80’s and was surrounded by such famous
DJ's like Johnny Ringo, U Brown, Welton Irie and the still very young Burru Banton. In 1983
was the year for the sound to start touring abroad and they embarked on a successful visit
to England playing in packed venues including cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester.
From there on, Squiddly continued touring throughout the 80ies, with Gemini in Canada in '84,
with Volcano Sound in the US during '85 and a second England tour with Gemini in '87. 1987
was also the year Squiddly left Gemini. From that year on he played one stage show after the
other in numerous countries together with Metromedia, the sound where his brother Peter
Metro became famous as the No. 1 DJ in the crew. During the 80’s Squiddly further deejayed
along with Barry G Sound, Aces Intl., Volcano & Killamanjaro.
Like many DJ's in that decade Squiddly Ranking was very present on stages, but less in
recording studios. However, one of his big hits in 1982 in collaboration with Peter Metro was
„Nah Work In A Bad Boy Possee“, followed by several songs for labels like Stone Love,
Black Scorpio, Channel One, Joe Gibbs, GG Records. In 1983, Gussie Clarke released a live
album with Squiddly Ranking & Yellowman on Killamanjaro and another live album was
released by George Phang. In the same year Squiddly was on the frontpage of „Black Echoe“,
a famous black music magazine.
From 1990 on Squiddly started working together with Stone Love Sound and also released on
their label a whole range of big tunes such as “Tekeesha” a combination with Merciless,
“Tings a gwaan”, “Ugly The Girl”, “Maaga Man” feat. Queen Paula. He further released tunes
on Steely & Clevie & Winston Riley's label during the 90's and never stopped touring, alone
3times (!) in Japan ('93, '95 with Mega Banton, Buju Banton & Ricky General & '97 with Black
Scorpio). In 1997 Squiddly was part ofthe Gemini UK reunion tour, which brought most of the
original sound crew together again for some classic dancehall style: The late great Johnny Ringo,
Burru Banton, Squiddly Ranking, Little John, U Brown and Peter Metro all teamed up to celebrate
the glory days of Gemini. By the end of the 90's he toured the whole carribean – Antigua,
Bermuda, Grand Caymans, St. Lucia.
In 2000 Squiddly spent 1 year in Canada, performing on stage together with no others than Buju
Banton, Cutty Ranks, Lady Saw, Lady Mackerel (Macka Diamond) and Grindsman. He returned to
Jamaica in 2001 to leave again in 2003 to the USA for stageshows with Sammy Dread, Leroy
Gibbons, Lt. Stitchie, Professor Nuts and Lecturer.
Squiddly Ranking continuously released records on Stone Love, Steely & Clevie or Black Scorpio
and performed on all big festivals and shows in Jamaica during the past 3 decades, just to
give a few examples: 10x at Sting, 8x at Fresh, Reggae Sunsplash, Champions in action, Jamboree,
Sumfest, Follow the Arrow and Stone Love anniversary in 2010.
Recently Squiddly Ranking is recording a new album.
