Three years after "Hors Contrôle" comes Dub Inc's new album (the band's fifth studio album and eighth release, counting the two live records and the first EP). It will be unveiled next September, but Zigo, the band's drummer, outlines it for us: a new effort true to the band's spirit, made of encounters and good humour. The idea: "To please ourselves", he sums up.
In the two-plus years since the album "Hors contrôle" came out, the members of Dub Inc have not been idle. True to form, they set off on long tours to support the record. At the very least, 170 concerts in 27 different countries (for more than 400,000 spectators, according to official press releases): "The "Hors Contrôle" tour was extremely intense, it flew by, even though it lasted more than two years, says Zigo. We travelled a huge amount, on every continent, we met loads of artists and discovered new cultures... That will no doubt be felt on the new album."
This new album is already scheduled for September 2013. The band has been together since September, writing in its studio in Saint-Etienne. But nothing has been recorded yet: "As usual we spend a lot of time together, we talk a lot, we try to polish the details. The final recording will take place in Orléans in February or March, in a great studio that was set up by young people like us. Our aim is simply to play music, to express ourselves and to enjoy ourselves."
World music and reggae
Enjoying themselves, notably with guest singers and musicians: "We didn't try to find a big name for the featurings, just great artists." Musically, the longtime fan won't be lost. This new album (whose title is not yet known) will mark, like all the band's records, an evolution, but not a break: "Our musical evolution has never been abrupt, we have always tried new things while remaining true fans of Jamaican music, so there will always be this blend of world music and modern reggae."
Their many journeys on tour are surely not unrelated to this. But not only that: "The fact that Nicolas Sarkozy was swept away certainly affected our mood too. This album is less head-on about the subjects we tackle. We are more at ease in the studio, and more serene..."

This new opus will of course be followed by a tour (dates at the Zéniths in Paris and Saint-Etienne have already been announced for December): "We are also all very eager to start touring in France again, because even though we are really hooked on travelling, we miss the French audience a lot. The concert at the Fête de l'Huma, last September in Paris, did us a world of good before starting the new album."
A new album that will be revealed bit by bit online: "We are going to post a few little things on the net in the coming months. We are also thinking of doing one or two concerts in France this summer before the real tour in the autumn", concludes Zigo.
