Bad Bad Bad! The Kalic riddim lives up to its name!
While some 45s of the series appeared in the shops a few weeks ago, the announcement of the Bad Kalic's release on CD went off like a bomb, and its arrival in the racks in France is promised in the next few days.
Produced by the famous Stone Love label of Winstown Powell aka Wee Pow, and composed by the new talent Teethimus, still little known but whose potential is beyond proving after a few successful riddims last year.
On the riddim, you will find two tracks by the rabid Elephant Man aka Energie God: Shizzle My Nizzle and Hot An A Boil; the Fireman Capleton's "We nuh tek this" apparently aims a few lyrics at Sizzla here, reproaching him for using lyrics that belittle the education of ghetto youths. Sean Paul, who kept a low profile last year, seems to be making a big comeback with the track "Could A way" (a second album is already announced for this year). Sizzla also comes in very strongly with the much-noticed "Girls & Roses". Also look out for the notable performances of Mega Banton on "Sergeant Brown", Devonte & Tanto Metro with "Trench Coal", and Madd Anju, the artist with the humorous lyrics, who on "A No my Baby B" defends himself against being the father of a child while the mother (played here by Martina) claims the opposite.
With a little makeover for the new millennium, Greensleeves's rhythm series get the year off to a very good start with the Bad Kalic!!!
An album to get hold of urgently.
