After fifteen years in the underground, on compilations and on countless stages, the Big Famili release their first album, "Ras'In". Baron Black and King Kalabash are joined by numerous artists for varied features.

The album opens with an intro by Capleton dedicated to the Big Famili, revealing the ambition: to rise to the level of the Jamaican artists. Each has his own style: deejaying for Baron Black and singing for King Kalabash. In duet, the inspirations of the two duellists combine and overlap, drawing the best from riddims that one would sometimes have liked to be more substantial. Bim is back on guitar on some tracks, accompanied by Bost on saxophone on occasion. The drums, often programmed, do not help the punch of the whole. No fewer than five guests share the mic across these 17 tracks, in solos, duets or more. Kaya P, Supa John (also a musician on several tracks) and Marsha come to add their contribution. King Kalabash and Baron Black even give up their place to Queen Sheeba on the zouk of Lève.

The lyrics, conscious and positive even if they do not avoid clichés, draw heavily on the Rasta themes developed by the Jamaicans: praise to Jah (Je crois), a message to the youth, Africa (Les Enfants d'Ethiopie), the promotion of love (Plus d'amour). Baron Black and King Kalabash, who come from Martinique, make these leitmotifs their own by weaving in their own experience, on Racines or Il fait froid, more serious than it seems. Pourquoi, a successful combination of Matinda and Baron Black, and Donne toi la peine, round off the conscious tone of this album. Gun Man, on a more warlike hip hop instrumental, promotes calm among the sounds. Light lyrics are rare: Vanillochocolat, a duet variation on the theme of girls and boys, and Hot, in which Baron Black carries the anthem to parties with tropical heat. Quitter la cité, a ballad with a sweet instrumental but serious, thoughtful lyrics, concludes a fine effort from the French underground with an eye on Jamaica.
