It is a concept that works: less than a year after opening its catalogue, and only a few weeks after the release of "Linval Thompson Inna De Yard", the label already has its fourth release. A new take on its acoustic set-up, this time it is Cedric Myton of the Congos who takes on the exercise. The minimalism championed at the start of the series is abandoned for tracks that are much fuller musically: horns, percussion, harmonica and drums support Earl Chinna Smith and his guitar, still in a strictly acoustic spirit.

Cedric Myton is not necessarily the one of the two Congos singers with the most interesting vocal timbre. His voice, moreover, sometimes drifts towards nasal tones far from its original purity. But these few wanderings do not tarnish his impact, and the whole, once again, works, on tracks as well-worn as Form a gang, Children a crying or Open up the Gate of Zion. Add to that the anthem Congoman and we find a good part of the classics taken from the essential album "Heart of the Congos", a masterpiece of roots harmonies. Beyond these obvious choices, Yoyo recovers the accents of old in his high-pitched voice, Wisdom stretches out with Musical Foul as a guest over a hypnotic loop, as does the meditative Forever Young on a haunting nyabinghi. Off to a good start, the series carries on its way. Something to tide us over until the announced reunion of the Congos.

Merci ! Thank you very much ! For all human beings, please keep on singing and playing music ! Moin ka di ou: gwan merci là ! Betua

Le meilleur reggae roots que j'ai pu entendre!

    à écouter tout nu dans l'Herbe !

c de la balle the congoes est surtout la voix si perssante de cedric du bon roots comme on les aimes jah rastafary
