Jamaica now has its own annual sound system festival, as the first Goodyear Sounds Festival will take place on 6 August, the island’s Independence Day. This event is keen to present itself as a festival and not as a sound clash; to that end, it will bring together Stone Love, King Jammy, Black Scorpio, Danger Zone, Rebel T., Black Cat, Glamour Wayne and King Midas, and the cream of today’s dancehall artists will lend a hand to each sound.
