Delayed because of a busy news agenda in Jamaica (Reggae Month, Bob Marley’s birthday), the release of the "Tribute to Peter Tosh", Bushman’s project of covers of Bush Doctor, should be out soon.
From the start of his career, Bushman was compared to Luciano, in the line of great deep-voiced singers, of whom Peter Tosh (murdered in 1987) was the herald. It was Omar Davies, finance minister and fan of the Stepping Razor, who whispered the idea to him. Bushman set out in the footsteps of Peter Tosh, meeting members of his family and preparing the covers with, among others, the musicians Donald Dennis and Dean Fraser, and production by Donovan Germain of Penthouse, who is returning to album production.
On the tracklisting, Mama Africa, with Buju, Downpresser Man, Don’t Look Back (with Tarrus Riley), and also "I'm an african" with Gramps (Morgan Heritage), Beres Hammond, Bushman, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Louie Culture, Marcia Griffiths and Buju Banton.
Bushman has already started playing his tracks on stage, and it sometimes happens that people think they are original compositions: “People don’t know whether it’s Peter Tosh or me. We have a lot in common, but I think the most important thing is that neither of us got the recognition we deserved.” For Bushman, it may come with this record.
