After all the talk, their first album is finally on its way: the first effort from Rootz Underground, the island band led by Steve Newland, will be with us on 28 April, distributed by Nocturne. Titled "Movement", this debut album, released in December 2007 in Jamaica, gathers nineteen tracks that we have been able to lend an ear to.
Among them, there is a version of the dizzying 20 Centuries, discovered in 2004 on Steve Newland’s first solo EP (news of 06/12/2004) and reworked here and cut by several minutes, but also Herb Fields, Hammer, Corners of my mind or how much longer, whose common denominator remains a pronounced taste for electric guitar solos.
Since Rootz Underground was formed in 2000, the band has earned its first stripes on stage, and has built a solid reputation. The convincing "Movement" immediately places them as one of the spearheads of roots bands in Jamaica (and they are rare). We await the French release with impatience.
