Eight artists and personalities from the Jamaican music industry were honoured with a plaque on Saturday 1 August in Kingston, at the Tribute to the Greats night.

Among them, Winston Riley, singer with The Techniques in the 60s (with the hit Queen Majesty in particular), then producer with the label of the same name (to whom we nevertheless owe the Stalag riddim made in 1973) and finally uncle of Tarrus Riley, was rewarded for a career of nearly 50 years.
Also honoured were Joe Higgs (a posthumous tribute, since the spiritual father of the Wailers passed away in 1999), Keith Lyn, singer for Byron Lee and his Dragonaires (a group formed in the late 50s), Copeland Forbes, promoter and artist manager for over 40 years, and Winston "Wee Pow" Powell, a former policeman, boss and founder of the Stone Love sound system.
