The 29th International Reggae & World Music Awards were held on Sunday 2 May at the York College Performing Arts Center in Queens, New York.

A ceremony at which no fewer than 42 awards were handed out, including 4 for Queen Ifrica, the evening's record.
A good haul also for the Trinidadian Machel Montano and Gramps Morgan, who each leave with three awards, including best song for Gramps with Wash the tears.
A small disappointment, however, for the much-in-demand Tarrus Riley, who took home only one award although he was nominated in six categories. A relative disappointment, when you know it was the best singer award.
Freddie McGregor leaves with the "most consistent artist" award (there has to be something for everyone), a deserved reward for this veteran who has remained musically active for nearly 40 years.
