The photographer Beth Lesser is publishing, through Muzik Tree, a biography of Sugar Minott and his crew, Youth Promotion. Very close to the artist (she even got married to David Kingston at a party at Youth Promotion in 1986), Beth Lesser knows her subject. "The Legend of Sugar Minott & Youth Promotion" pays tribute to Sugar Minott and his humanist personality, a man who worked tirelessly for his community.
"Booga" put his success at the service of promoting young artists: the young Little John, Tristan Palmer, Junior Reid, Yami Bolo, Ranking Joe, Michael Palmer, Barry Brown, Ranking Dread, Tenor Saw… It was he who recorded Garnet Silk's first single.
The 212-page book contains unpublished pictures of Sugar Minott, with his family or with Youth Promotion.
For the moment it is available only in the original English version, on the site www.smallaxe.reggae4ever.com.
