''Kakilambe'', Takana Zion's fourth album
on Wednesday, October 24th 2012 - 8 465 views
After "Zion Prophet" (2007), "Rappel à l'ordre" (2009) and "Rasta Government" (2011), Takana Zion unveils his fourth album, "Kakilambe", due out on 19 November.
A new opus with several surprises in store. Unlike "Rasta Government", recorded in Jamaica and very reggae in form, "Kakilambe" is far more eclectic.
Made between Conakry, the capital of his native Guinea, and Paris, it is the fruit of a production shared between Takana Zion and the French producer and composer DJ Redeyes. "Takana came to find me in my studio, says Redeyes, and invited me to come with him to Guinea. It was during the two weeks of my stay there that most of the album's tracks were recorded."
The eclecticism of "Kakilambe" is deliberate: "The idea was to blend our two worlds, Redeyes continues: his, between reggae and African music, and mine, more modern. We wanted to bring something more eclectic."
Indeed, the album contains several musical worlds and does the splits between traditional music and modernity, between reggae, traditional music, dancehall, electro...
A direction that could be sensed from the first single, Emmanuel (video below). The next two singles, Aminata and Assali (with Aïcha Koné), will bear witness to this diversity.
Also worth noting is a feature with Sizzla, whom Takana Zion has never hidden his admiration for.
A promotional tour for the album is planned for spring 2013.
