A new Studio One compilation from Soul Jazz Records: the label announces the upcoming release of "Studio One Ironsides".
The name of the compilation, explains Soul Jazz Records, refers to the many label names that Coxsone invented to fool the radio stations and DJs who were growing tired of Studio One's success (Ironside, Money Disc, ND Records, Bongo Man, Forward...). That said, the tracks on this compilation do not all come from the Ironside label...
The tracklisting gives pride of place to artists stamped Studio One: Freddie McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Alton Ellis, Cornell Campbell, Lone Ranger... While it may send rarity hunters a little less wild than previous releases (several tracks are available elsewhere), "Studio One Ironsides" is nonetheless a serious compilation, just as Soul Jazz Records knows how to make them.
Available as double LP and CD, on 25 January 2013.
