The Jamaican Sunrise saga continues. While the Montpellier criminal investigation police inquiry into the multiple malpractices goes on, the municipality of Bagnols has made its decision: the Jamaican Sunrise is now persona non grata.
The local daily Midi-Libre published the news in its edition of Wednesday 20 October. Who will replace it? None other than Ja’Sound, whose organisers also run the Bagnol Blues. In today’s edition, Midi Libre goes back over the story in detail. The choice is justified by the booking blunders and the many unpaid bills of the last edition, which « damaged the interests and reputation of Bagnols », says Jacques Pouradier-Duteil, deputy mayor for culture in Bagnols. By entrusting a second festival to the same team, the municipality also intends to make economies of scale.
It remains to persuade festival-goers to come back to Bagnols...
