Sizzla wins his appeal

Remember: after using insults on stage at a festival in Saint Thomas in December 2004, Sizzla was sentenced to community service, a penalty converted into 14 days in prison when the deejay refused to comply (see the news of 3 January and 3 February 2005). Having appealed the decision, the deejay and his lawyers argue that the judge has no legal right to send him straight to prison without giving him the option of paying a fine. His appeal was finally accepted by the Court and his sentence modified, reports the Jamaica Star of 18 May. He now has the choice between paying 2,000 dollars or spending 10 days in prison.
