Selected last weekend with 113 other Jamaican personalities to receive the country's honours, Lloyd « King Jammy » James will be decorated this year with the equivalent of our Ordre du Mérite (the "Order of Distinction") at the rank of officer. The Jamaican government wanted to pay tribute to King Jammy's contributions to the country's artistic creation and music industry.
With some 32 years of reggae under his belt, King Jammy welcomed the news with satisfaction and will be among the handful of artists and producers honoured in this way. Clement « Coxsone » Dodd himself received this decoration in 1991.
