After distinguishing itself with the reissue of Pablo Gad's very good album "Hard Times", the French label Soul Village has pulled off another coup by securing French distribution of the albums of I Grade, the prolific St Croix label. Available on the web and in dribs and drabs as imports at some record shops, the albums of Midnite & co will thus gain new exposure.
The recent "Jah Grid", Midnite's latest album to date, has been available since 13 November, and the older "Assini", recorded in the summer of 2001, which will be distributed in France for the first time, is in the racks from today. Midnite will therefore inaugurate the Soul Village catalogue, but other St Croix artists will flesh out the offering: Niyorah, Abja and Yahadanai are expected in early 2007...
Soul Village is also launching three vinyl singles showcasing the artists of I Grade Records:
- My Joy (Midnite) / Good Vibez (Abja feat Niyorah)
- Enter (Midnite) / Crucial Confessions (Abja)
- Wadada (Yahadanai) / African Chant (Niyorah feat. Pressure)
