The deejay Vybz Kartel has just announced, to general surprise, that he wishes to change his name. He will now be Addi the Techa, a nickname he already used in many tracks, referring to his own first name, Adidjah.
The site Yardflex further reports that the name change is said to be linked to problems with the label Greensleeves, which had signed Kartel for three albums. The dancehall prodigy has already made two famous albums for the English label, but the release of the third under the contract already seems compromised.
