A press conference held last week in Kingston with the two artists should put a definitive end, we hope, to the rivalry between Vybz Kartel and Mavado.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields (a sort of Interior Minister) and Kimani Robinson of the channel RE TV, saying they were worried about the surge in violence from fans and from the artists' entourages, were in fact behind this reconciliation, proposing a mediation.
Vybz Kartel and Mavado played along and showed their unity at the press conference. In particular, they reminded everyone of the difference between musical rivalry and physical rivalry. Apologising to their fans, they finally urged them to stop using their music as a pretext for violence.
