Faced with recurring serious financial problems, the Caribbean radio station Média Tropical (117,000 daily listeners in the Ile-de-France) will cease broadcasting on 4 September 2007. Active since 1992, the station has not had its broadcasting licence (issued for 5 years) renewed by the CSA.
On 10 May 2007, the CSA therefore shortlisted Tropique FM, a project led by presenter Claudy Siar. Before applying for the frequency, Claudy Siar, former programme director and executive producer of Star Academy Afrique, had taken steps to buy into the station's capital.
