QQ barred from the stage

The precocious career of child star QQ (Stookie, Poverty) has just come to a halt. It is his own father and manager who is being called to account by the Jamaican authorities, who have reminded him of the laws governing child labour. The government has even reportedly threatened to impose sanctions on GQ, alias Joseph Dawkins, QQ's father, if he persisted in wanting to bring his son to perform in the United States.

QQ has thus been ordered to remain on Jamaican soil, depriving him of a series of nine concerts this summer… It could not have come at a worse time, school holidays being the only period of the year when the young artist can perform abroad. The authorities intend to monitor the size of QQ's fees and the way his father manages his career. He is due to appear before the court again in September. That said, QQ is not the first child star, and exemptions can be granted. That is now GQ's aim.
