Ja'Sound will not take place... in Bagnols

The latest twist in the long litany of troubles that have dogged the festival since its last edition in 2006, followed by last year's "hibernation": Ja'Sound will go ahead, but not in Bagnols.
Daniel Ventajol, boss of Tint'amart Productions, explains in the columns of Midi Libre that he is "fed up with feeling like he's begging for charity". The target: the €50,000 subsidy requested from the town council, for a budget of €600,000. Faced with "the lack of response on the other side", the festival will go ahead, but not in Bagnols. "The decision is firm and final," concludes Mr Ventajol. After playing cat and mouse with the council for a long time, with speeches blowing hot and cold and despite the apparent goodwill of mayor René Cret, (news of 16 July 2007) Ja'Sound is packing its bags. And for the second year running, there will be nothing in Bagnols this summer. Ja'Sound itself could find a new home a few kilometres away, in the Ardèche.
