Africa Unite 2008 in Jamaica
on Monday, December 10th 2007 - 9 569 views
Although the event was originally to be held in South Africa, the Africa Unite 2008 concert organised by the Marley Foundation will finally take place in Jamaica. A lack of local financial support is said to have prompted the move. Launched in 2005 in Ethiopia, the event's mission is to spread as widely as possible awareness of the ills afflicting the African continent. Concerts, then, but also conferences, symposiums and fundraising. In 2006, Ghana hosted Africa Unite.
Renamed "Africa Unite - Smile Jamaica", the concert should take place in Jamaica in February 2008, between the 1st and the 23rd.
Meanwhile, the Marley Foundation is reportedly in talks with the Jamaican government to make February "Reggae Month".
