Something new on web 2.0: we knew MySpace, which lets artists create their page and share their tracks. The platform No Major Muzik, launched today, goes (much) further by giving internet users a crucial role, since they are no longer merely consumers but also producers! By placing the artist and the public at the heart of creation, No Major Music is revolutionising the music industry.
In practice, internet users (the "NoMajornauts") stake money on the artist who seems most promising to them, thus becoming co-producers. When a track reaches €3,000 in stakes, NoMajorMusik accompanies the artist into the studio to record the track, and handles its promotion and distribution on the usual online channels. Any profits are then shared fairly: 40% for the artist and 40% for the co-producers, and 20% for No Major Muzik.
