The dancehall legend Supercat is back on stage. The man from whom Sean Paul drew heavily to build his success is making his live comeback at the Best of the Best concert to be held on 25 May in Miami. So it is not yet the day when Supercat, resident in the USA since the mid-90s, will set foot in Jamaica again, let alone in Europe.
The most gangster of the Jamaican artists, who dominated 80s dancehall, is the pioneer of dancehall / hip hop combinations with Kriss Kross and Heavy D, which would establish him in the United States. With Shabba Ranks, he is among the first Jamaican artists to sign to a major in Uncle Sam’s homeland.
Now aged 42, Supercat joins a famous line-up bringing together Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Sizzla, Junior Reid, Barrington Levy, Tarrus Riley, Mavado, Etana, Dean Fraser, Assassin, Serani, Bling Dawg, Demarco and Bugle.
