It isn’t spring yet, and already VP Records’ catalogue is budding all over. Besides the much-awaited next Morgan Heritage album, “Mission In Progress”, due in April, and Jamelody’s debut album, “Be Prepared”, a new Richie Spice album titled “Gideon Boots” and produced by Bobby Digital will see the light of day in May, as will Mavado’s second album, which should be called “Gully God”.
At the same time, the Chin brothers’ label is continuing its reissue programme in the 17 North Parade collection with, in addition to the late Joe Gibbs’ “African Dub” and Jacob Miller’s “Lives On”, the CD release of “Barrington Levy and Friends” and Prince Far I’s “Under Heavy Manners”. Finally, note that the label’s other collection, Reggae Anthology, is to welcome two new double albums, devoted to Cocoa Tea and Cutty Ranks respectively. A most prolific start to the year for VP, enough to make you almost dizzy.
