Every fan of Freddie McGregor and John Holt should already have watched their famous performance at the Apollo in London with the London Symphonic Orchestra, captured on DVD in 2001. You simply have to see these two veterans belting out their biggest hits in frock coats, with a philharmonic orchestra and in front of an audience in evening dress.
Last week, the two did it again in a similar set-up, but on the other side of the Atlantic, at the Reggae Symphony held at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, a small, gentrified town in Florida. Accompanied by Lloyd Parks and the We The People Band and therefore by the New York Symphony Reggae Strings Orchestra, Freddie McGregor and John Holt once again performed their greatest songs in front of a delighted crowd. What we don't yet know is whether their performance was recorded.
