Mighty Crown has added one more line to its long list of honours by winning the Death Before Dishonor, held last week in Montego Bay. The Japanese sound system thus wins for the second year running the trophy that opens the international clash season, getting the better of Black Kat in the final round.

Beaten in the very first round, Tony Matterhorn made no secret of his disappointment: "I miss the days of Trooper, Fire Links and Squingy (Bass Odyssey, ed.). Their sounds are too predictable". The Germans of Hype Zone (Hanover) were the next to leave the stage. Beforehand, the elders King Jammy's, Black Scorpio, Downbeat and David Rodigan had strung together oldies dubplates, the latter once again showing his talent as a selecta.
