Journalist and writer Hélène Lee has drawn from her book "Le Premier Rasta", published in 1999, a film of the same name, still in preparation. The first Rasta is Leonard Percival Howell, founder of the Pinnacle community in Jamaica, where he returned in 1932 after knocking about the seas of the globe.
It was at the Pinnacle that the "Gong" (a nickname that inspired Bob Marley to become the "Tuff Gong") set up his community, and where Rasta thought was to be built over 18 years (until its destruction in 1958), blending "Marx and the Bible, Dada and Marcus Garvey, Gandhi and the Falashas".
