Following the example of Reggae Sun Ska this summer, which took its environmental approach to a level rarely reached (even earning praise from the Fondation Nicolas Hulot), the Fête de l'Humanité will multiply "sustainable" initiatives next weekend: deposit glasses (300,000 glasses planned), pocket ashtrays, selective waste sorting…

"We had been working on it for a year without daring to take the plunge," admits Olivier Valentin, the event's technical director, on the daily newspaper's website. To go even further, there will also be a fair-trade market for responsible consumption, debates, and a screening of the film "The World According to Monsanto" (a chilling watch).
A regular at the event, Tiken Jah Fakoly will of course be there, in the middle of an eclectic line-up. Not to be missed on Friday night: the main stage will host, besides the Ivorian griot, Femi Kuti, Dub Inc and N*E*R*D for a special concert. No less!
