The traditional Jamaican leg of the World Clash, held every Easter weekend, had a new look this year, except for the winner, Black Kat, a multiple World Clash champion. The promoters Irish and Chin were offering two clashes for the price of one.

The first, called "Town vs country", a 45s-only showdown, pitted two groups of local sound systems against each other, Kingston on one side and the countryside on the other. It was the latter that took the trophy, thanks to the performance of Dj Kentucky.
The highlight of the night, the World Clash proper, saw Mighty Crown, defending their title, the veteran Bobyguard from Clarendon, Black Blunt, a young sound (9 months old!) from Negril, and the inescapable Black Kat go head to head.
A disappointing performance from Bobyguard, who went out first, followed by Mighty Crown, who paid the price for a Jamaican alliance between the two Blacks. Logically, Black Kat won the dub-fi-dub and now have 6 trophies from various World Clashes. The sound's last victory, however, dated back to 2005.
