The English selector and radio presenter David Rodigan was handed two awards (gold and silver) at the Sony Radio Academy Awards ceremony on 11 May in London.

Shortlisted in two categories, the "gentleman of reggae" left with a silver trophy, rewarding music broadcaster of the year, and a gold, for best specialist music programme.
As is his habit, David Rodigan commented on this recognition with exemplary modesty. A true monument of reggae across the Channel, he celebrated in 2008 his 30 years in radio, from the BBC to Kiss 100 FM (see news of 29/02/08). He was also inducted into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame in 2006.
