We now know a little more about the hearing held on 5 January in Tampa (see news of 07/01/2010), where Buju Banton was indeed transferred.
Gargamel pleaded not guilty and indicated that he was not seeking release on bail. Such a move would in fact force him to be held by the US immigration authorities.
The singer's lawyer, David Markus, immediately revealed his line of defence: he will argue that there was a conspiracy. He also told the media that Buju had been set up and that people had taken advantage of "his trusting and honest nature".
