Collie Buddz should soon launch his own radio station in his home country, Bermuda. The news remains conditional, since the authorisation needed to make the project a reality has not yet been obtained by the artist and his brother, Matthew "Smokey" Harper, with whom he has teamed up.
The station, if it sees the light of day, will be called Vibes 103 FM and will broadcast 24/7. Collie Buddz promises 45 minutes of "hit music" per hour, a rather vague term covering local music, reggae, rock, hip hop, dance, R&B and other alternative styles. In short, the aim is to give birth to the island's only pop radio station. At least, that is how the project is being presented.
The project also aims to be a driver of development for Bermuda's music sector by offering a minimum of 10% local productions on air.
A busy period, then, for this artist who emerged in 2007 with his hit Come Around, since a US tour alongside the bands Cypress Hill and Slightly Stoopid is also planned for this summer. The tour, titled "Legalize it 2010 Summer Tour", will go through some twenty cities including Seattle, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Boston, Detroit and Philadelphia.
