Masters, video recordings of concerts and personal effects belonging to Bob Marley, stored in the brand-new studio built on Rita Marley's initiative in Aburi, Ghana, were destroyed by flames.
The fire, caused by an electrical fault, reportedly broke out in May. Yet Rita Marley only reported the material damage very recently. The building, named Studio One (see news of 13/10/10), was originally due to be inaugurated in October 2009, then in June 2010.
Bob's widow indicated that the project had not been abandoned and that she would take charge of the repairs.
