The twelve members of the jury were thus unable to agree on a verdict. Deliberating since last Thursday, the jurors notified Judge Jim Moody for the second time, and he declared a mistrial.
The courts are not finished with Buju Banton, however, as a new trial (with a new jury) is expected to take place in December. The date has not yet been set.
David Markus, Buju Banton's lawyer, has applied for bail for the singer, who has been in custody since 10 December 2009.
