Salim Jah Peter leads reconciliation in Niger

A native of Niger, Salim Jah Peter has put his artistic career at the service of humanitarian causes. After his album Hold-up de pouvoir was censored by the authorities in December 2009, he returned to his homeland following the coup of 18 February 2010. Rediscovering a deeply divided country, he set up the project "The Caravan for Peace, Democracy and National Reconciliation in Niger".

This caravan travels from town to town through concerts, raising awareness among the population of the themes of peace, democracy and tolerance, with a view to national reconciliation.

Organised in collaboration with the Association Planète Humascène, the event began last week and will continue until 20 November with a final concert in the capital, Niamey.

Recorded as part of this tour and available since 4 November, the single Cinquantenaire Niger calls on Nigeriens to rise to the challenges facing them. Part of the proceeds will go to humanitarian associations.
