After Mos Dub, Dub Kweli
on Wednesday, December 01st 2010 - 4 813 views
After the insolent success of the "Mos Dub" project, released in April 2010, Max Tannone is back with "Dub Kweli". The concept? Combine a hip-hop artist's flow with reggae standards remixed for the occasion. The first project saw Mos Def tame well-known rhythms (Johnny Too Bad, Shanty Town, Truth & Rights...). The second, "Dub Kweli", released last August, puts Talib Kweli in the spotlight this time.
As well as having a certain musical taste, the man we already owed the mashup "Jaydiohead" (an improbable and successful meeting of Jay-Z and Radiohead) has a definite talent for dreaming up the best match-ups.
With Talib Kweli, he is again on velvet: Stop that train by Keith & Tex, Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear, Revolution by Dennis Brown...
Best for last: these projects can be downloaded for free from Max Tannone's website.
In brief...
