A rain of stones and bottles at Follow di Arrow
on Monday, February 28th 2011 - 7 202 views
Taking the stage for the 11th edition of the "Follow di Arrow" event, Bounty Killer doubtless expected to play for more than 5 minutes. Moments after starting his set on the small main stage (the last of the night), the Warlord announced that there would be no clash or collaboration with Vybz Kartel (his former disciple, who left the Alliance in 2006), also on the bill that night, contrary to what the Jamaica Gleaner had reported in an article.
He did not even have time to finish his sentence before the first bottles and stones started raining onto the stage, forcing Bounty to slip away. He tried to come back on, but eventually gave way to the anger of the crowd. When the missiles stopped, Vybz Kartel took the stage, probably thinking he could turn the situation to his advantage… but the same fate befell him.
Accounts published on the web suggest several minor injuries among spectators positioned in front of the stage. Gunshots were heard, the Jamaica Observer reports, without saying whether they came from the police. A real failure for the organisers, who had insisted on unity during the promotion of the event.
