In an interview with the Jamaica Star, Beenie Man revealed his upcoming album, "King in Control", due out this summer. An album made up mostly of unreleased tracks, apart from his hits Go Go Club and Rum and Red Bull with Future Fambo, and whose theme is… women, obviously. "King in Control" is produced by Mario Campbell (357 Records) and Beenie Man.

Asked about competition from other artists, the King of Dancehall, with 31 years of career behind him, put forward his arguments: "I am still in control. Right now, no artist wants to follow me on stage." He went on: "None of these artists is about performance. They break through to make money, to feed their families, buy a house and find some balance. Because they decided not to steal or kill, and they don't have the right education to get an ordinary office job."
"Me, I was born to do what I do," the deejay added. "I don't train. I never watched someone on TV and said I wanted to be like him. "
