It is now very rare to come across dub albums produced and mixed in Jamaica. We have known since February that the producer Don Corleon was working on one. The result of this foray, "Dub in HD", has been available since yesterday.
"I am in love with music and with dub in particular, Donovan Bennett said of the project. People like Mad Professor, King Tubby, Scientist and King Jammy really influenced me. This project is a true tribute to the pioneers of dub, and it's my way of keeping their music going."
Ten tracks, most of which are dub versions of tunes Don Corleon has produced in the past: Longing for by Jah Cure (Drop Leaf), Pressure's Ghetto Life, Dread and Wrong side of the law by Protoje, and Far From Reality by Natural Black (Seasons riddim)… Although it is indeed a dub album, the vocals remain very present.
