A graduate of Sciences-Po with a Master 2 in History from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Antony Ceyrat has published his second book, entitled "La gauche et les mouvements "noirs" en Jamaïque, enjeux et dynamiques d'une impasse politique (1938-1980)" (The Left and "Black" Movements in Jamaica: Stakes and Dynamics of a Political Impasse, 1938-1980), published by L'Harmattan.

After a first book on the construction of black identity in Jamaica since independence (news item of 19/10/2009), this work sets out to shed light on the radical labour tendencies that emerged in Jamaica (as across the Caribbean) at the close of the 1930s.
The publisher's note says: "Faced with a colonial system that couples economic exploitation with racial domination, the left and "black" movements addressed a comparable audience, the working class being almost exclusively made up of descendants of slaves.
This work examines the political mobilisation strategies employed by each of the two tendencies and the relationship between the notions of race and class.
