Bounty Killer and Beenie Man go back to their old ways
on Wednesday, September 28th 2011 - 11 459 views
Since Bounty Killer's metamorphosis last year, the order of the day had been reconciliation with Beenie Man. Since the Arthur Guinness Celebration Day concert last year (read our report), the two have even shared many stages. But with Beenie Man's recent divorce from D'Angel (Bounty Killer's ex), the Warlord and the Doctor have slipped back into their good old habits. Just like every two years, you might say... It seems this truce suited neither of them.
In April, in a line of Ready Fi Dem, Killa warns Beenie not to insult him. Which the Doctor wasted no time in doing shortly afterwards in Nah Talk Too Long. The Warlord took four months to react with Who Tell Him Dweet. Above all, he was not sparing with comments on his rival's divorce at the end of the summer. On Twitter, he even accused D'Angel of using Beenie Man.
Beenie hits back with Da Idiot Song Deh, in which he openly mocks Killer's troubles with the taxman (owing $15 million, he had a Range Rover and a Land Cruiser seized). On that score, Beenie Man knows what he is talking about: he too had to repay several million Jamaican dollars in 2008. A collateral victim of the track, Tony Matterhorn also gets it in the neck.
Bounty Killer's reply (Run Inna War) goes below the belt, attacking Beenie for sharing a bill with the comic actor Shebada, rumoured to be homosexual. This time, the collateral victim is Vybz Kartel, affectionately nicknamed "Lady Gaga". In the Star, Bounty explains himself: "I'm sorry for him, but he went below the belt by talking about the seizures of my cars. Those aren't war lyrics, I'm sending bullets and he's sending insults. So I'm insulting him even more."
With Cah Puff Mi Chest, Beenie Man stays on the same ground. While reasserting his heterosexuality, he leaves doubt hanging over his rival: "If we were to talk about it, Bounty would fill a large part of the story with Shebada." What follows is far dirtier, and decency forbids us from reproducing his lyrics in these pages...
Times are hard for the Doctor. Attacked by his ex as much as by the Warlord, he is also mocked by the popular Ity and Fancy Cat show. The comedy duo made a sketch in which they poke fun at Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, D'Angel and above all Marco Dean, their four-year-old son. This time it was in the media that Beenie Man reacted: "Ity & Fancy Cat must leave Marco Dean out of their sketches. I'm an international artist, they can make fun of me, but not of my son. It was really in bad taste. They should know what they're doing, because now they are disrespecting my family." We are right on schedule for Sting.
