Alborosie wins the MOBO Award

Alborosie won the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act at the 16th edition of the British ceremony, held last night at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow.

Alborosie wins the MOBO Award

The Sicilian beat Damian Marley & Nas, Khago and Mavado. Only four artists were in fact competing in the reggae category, after the removal of Jah Cure, the judges having belatedly realised that he had been convicted of rape in 1999 (news of 09/09/2011).

The ceremony richly rewarded young singer Jessie J, who pocketed no fewer than four statuettes: Best UK Act, Best Newcomer, Best Album and Best Song.
Rihanna was named Best International Act, Adele Best R&B Act and Tinie Tempah Best Hip-Hop Act. Last but not least, Boyz II Men were honoured for their "outstanding contribution to music"…
