Mavado was on the African continent for the first time last weekend: he played a big concert in Ghana, organised by singer Samini (2006 winner of the MOBO Award for Best African Act, and hailed as African artist of the year 2009 by MTV).

"I've been supposed to go to Africa to sing for the people for a long time, Mavado said at a press conference after the show. But nothing happens before its time. It was a wonderful experience, and I felt at home. Ghana reminded me so much of Jamaica, I loved it."
The deejay, who confessed to being "overwhelmed" by his trip to Africa, could even settle in Ghana, reports the site My Joy Online.
The deejay said that, as an African like his ancestors, "Ghana reminds me of home", adding that he could settle there in the near future, as soon as he has bought a plot of land.
The site points out that Ghana already hosts Rita Marley, who lives in the east of the country, in Konkonuru.
