You had to be keen this year for Sting. The showpiece event has seriously lost artistic credibility in recent years, and the clashes have often served as a cover for its shortcomings. The day after Christmas, this edition did not do much better.
With Mavado absent, having failed to show, Bounty Killer topped the bill. You had to be patient to see him at dawn. Before him, I-Wayne, Khago, Gyptian, Fantan Mojah, Aidonia and Etana stood out. The clashes everyone was waiting for pitted Kiprich against Merciless, Matterhorn against Twin of Twins, Iyara against Deva Bratt, and finally Specialist against Hurricane.
In what will remain the feat of the night, Merciless was dethroned by Kiprich, who is decidedly quick on the comeback, and who pulled the coffin and G.I. outfit stunt again. Matterhorn dispatched Twin of Twins without difficulty, while Beenie Man, spotted inside, did not risk a clash against Bounty. In short, an edition that will not go down in the annals.
