Although the organisers raised the possibility in 2010 of scrapping the Reggae category for fear of seeing it perpetually dominated by the Marley family, things are not really changing at the Grammy Awards.
In 2012 again, the trophy could well join the others on the Marley family mantelpiece: with two sons among the five nominees (Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley), there is a little less than a one in two chance. Damian Marley and the "Superheavy" project are absent from the nominations.
Even so, the nominations hold a few surprises, including Israel Vibration's first nomination for their album "Reggae Knights", and the virtuoso pianist Monty Alexander.
