Just when we were expecting the follow-up to "Contagious", Tarrus Riley and Dean Fraser deliver an acoustic album. The French label Soulbeats is producing the album, titled "Mecoustic". Met at Grafton Studio in Kingston, where the album was recorded, Tarrus Riley talked about this new opus.
"With Dean, we had the idea of making this acoustic album. We had a few songs, songs that are very special to me, which hadn't had all the attention, all the listening they deserved. And I really wanted to share this music with my audience. On this album, there are old and new songs. It's very special, you know?. I think the songs and the melodies are very rich, and the lyrics are important. With acoustic, you can really listen to the lyrics, it's very personal. And I think these songs should reach you that way."
The album, recorded at Grafton Studio, will bring together some of the members of Black Soil, Tarrus Riley's band, to whom Dean Fraser has added many other musicians: violins, flutes...
Due on 17 April, "Mecoustic" will come out just as Tarrus Riley begins his European tour. All the dates are below. Our interview with Tarrus Riley will be online soon.
