''Human Nature'', the new album from Soothsayers
on Wednesday, October 31st 2012 - 4 414 views
The roots-jazz of Soothsayers lulls on "Human Nature" (Red Earth Records), the fifth album from the eclectic London combo.
Produced by the Englishmen Manasseh and Yesking, and recorded in Prince Fatty's studio in Brighton, "Human Nature" blends several styles (dub, afro-beat, pop, jazz, soul…), drawing in particular on the brass section of the musical "Fela!".
The album is also carried by the harmony between the voices of the trio Robin Hopcraft (trumpeter) - Idris Rahman (saxophonist and clarinettist) - Julia Biel (singer).
Soothsayers, who recently teamed up with Cornell Campbell for a cover of No Man's Land, previously welcomed Johnny Clarke, Keziah Jones, Michael Prophet and Linval Thompson on earlier projects.
Just released, you can get a taster of "Human Nature" with the track Judgement Day, below:
